Valentines Day Make-Up Look

7:58 pm

I have been thinking lately about how much I wanted to do a full makeup look post, seeing as I've reviewed/talked about lots of individual bits and bobs, but never a collection of products for a final look, so I thought I'd use Valentines Day as an excuse to do so! Whether you're being whisked off on a date tomorrow (you lucky thing, you) or single and wanting to feel super empowered (you go, girl), here's my V-Day look for you to feel like a complete Princess.
If you like this style of post, let me know, and I'll do them more often!

Base Makeup:

My go-to base consists of Bare Minerals Bare-Skin (in shade Bare Linen) (£26.00), Ready SPF 20 Pressed Powder (R170) (£26.00) finished with my holy-grail product: Mineral veil. If you aren't already obsessed with Mineral Veil from Bare Minerals, you totally should be. It's a sheer powder that sets your makeup and literally makes your skin feel baby soft. It usually comes in a 9g pot that retails for £21.00, but I was treated to this to-die-for Limited Edition Enchanted version which is about 10x the size and looks beautiful sat on my dressing table. I'm unsure how much it was (I think £35.00 ...) but it was a limited edition so no longer features on the website.
I usually apply a primer or Garnier's Pure Matte Control moisturiser, which mattifies the skin whilst also moisturising! I then use my Bare Minerals Perfecting Face Brush with Bare Skin, followed by some pressed powder, finished with my mineral veil.

I think Valentines day calls for a little extra blush, and my blush of choice is Bobbi Brown's Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks in shade Powder Pink, which retails at £19.50. Alongside my blush, to add some extra dimension and sculpt, I swear by Benefit's Hoola which costs £23.50. It's another of my holy grail products, where I'd be without it I have no idea. (sobbing in a corner probably) (okay, maybe not sobbing but my life wouldn't be the same without it!)
To apply I use Real Techniques brushes in Contour and 300 from the Bold Metals Collection. (See my Bold Metals review here)

Eye Makeup:

If you've been following me for some time, you'll know eye shadow is my favourite thing. I just can't get enough of it. For this look, I decided I wanted to go pretty and pink, and where better to start than with Urban Decay's Naked 3 (£38.50). I also chose MAC's Extra Dimension Shadow in shade Sweet Heat (£16.00)
The shades from Naked 3 that I would combine for that perfect glowy romantic look are Nooner, Buzz, Trick and Dust, along with MAC's Sweet Heat in the centre. It's a gorgeous, princess pink eye look and it's totally swoon-worthy!

For this look, I didn't think eye-liner was necessary (but if you're the kind of person who couldn't imagine not working the eye liner flick on a daily basis, go for it!) but to finish off the eyes, Benefit's Roller Lash is perfect. It makes your lashes stand out and the shape of the mascara head is perfect for curling the lashes. (£19.50) I'm still undecided whether I prefer Roller Lash or They're Real; I think they need a thorough comparison so I can make my mind up!

Lips:
To finish the look off perfectly, I've put together my top Valentines colours from MAC.
For a soft, shiny, princess finish, go for MAC's Only You from the Ellie Goulding Range (£17.00). It's a creme sheen lipstick which makes your lips super soft and kissable, if you're looking for that.
Secondly, my number one love, Honeylove. This Matte finish lipstick is perfect for a bolder yet still soft finish, and probably my favourite of the four.  Thirdly is Myth, a Satin lipstick with a light peach-nude finish. For me, I find Myth slightly too light for the pigmentation of my lips, but it looks gorgeous with a slightly darker lip liner or colour underneath, and would make for a really understated yet pretty finish to this V-Day look. Finally, the boldest of them all, behold Ruby Woo. If you're looking for an empowered feeling, head straight for Ruby Woo. This retro Matte has a gorgeous velvet finish, and simply screams sexy. (£15.50 for the final 3 shades feautured)

I hope you enjoyed this somewhat long blog post! I loved putting this combination together and I hope you did too.
I hope you have a lovely Valentines Day, whether you're in a relationship or single.
