I can't quite get my head around the fact that February is nearly upon us, and that we'll be saying goodbye (and good riddance!) to January. The oh-so-dull month of January is filled with feelings of wishing Christmas would come back, feeling sluggish and getting back into normal routine, whilst dark/grey wintry days still linger, and there are no signs of spring. Alas, here we are, the last week of January and February is in sight (hurray - it means brighter evenings and sunnier, more vibrant days are on the horizon.) But until then, we need to build ourselves back up, and what better way to say goodbye to the January Blues than a pamper session. I've compiled my list of Top Pampering essentials to treat yourself to some well deserved TLC.

Burt's Bees Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream - £11.49
Burt's Bees Beeswax & Banana Hand Cream - £10.99
Burt's Bees Hand Salve - Available in Gift Sets
Yankee Candle Wax Tart Melt - Mango Peach Salsa - £1.49

At this time of year, the weather takes a toll on our skin and, for me, Burt's bees products are an absolute must have, because they're super moisturising, smell divine and leave your skin feeling velvety smooth.
The Soap Bark and Chamomile Cleansing cream is super refreshing and decadent, perfect for pampering. I suggest using it with a hot flannel/towel and work it gently into the skin in circular motions for a gorgeous finish to your face.
With winter walks comes dry skin, and my hands are always drying up. For an intense rush of moisture, use the Beeswax and Banana hand cream to protect and moisturise, and when on the go, or when you only need a light level of moisturising, use the Burt's Bees hand salve. It's a perfect size to pop in your pocket for those dry skin emergencies!

Urban Outfitters Fresh Water Candle - £8.00
Yankee Candle Wax Tart Melt - Turquoise Sky - £1.49

If you know me, you'll know I am obsessed with candles (I'm secretly a pyromaniac). I absolutely love them - I honestly love nothing more than unwinding by burning a candle. As the wax melts, I literally feel my worries fizzle away. My friend bought me this gorgeous Urban Outfitters Fresh Water candle that comes in a pretty tin with a watercolour design, and the scent is clean, fresh and a somewhat Clean Cotton and Ocean Breeze hybrid. To help banish the blues, pop on a candle whilst having a soak in the bath with a bath bomb. It's a winning relaxation method (I swear!)
In each image, I've included a tonal Yankee Candle wax melt. These tartlets are my absolute favourite, as I'm constantly wanting to change the scents of my candles, and as much as I love the huge Yankee Candle Jars, I always end up buying more so I can change up my scent choices. Alas, there comes an answer: tart melts. If you invest in a wax melter/burner, I promise you won't be disappointed. They not only look super pretty, they let you change up scents, and, if you're like me, you'll be obsessed with collecting a huge array of tart melts in no time.

LUSH American Cream Conditioner - £4.75/100g
LUSH Butterbear (I think this must have been a Christmas product as it isn't listed on the Lush site.)
Yankee Candle Wax Tart Melt - Midnight Jasmine - £1.49

Like I mentioned above, for me, the key to unwinding and helping those January blues melt away is a bath. Two of my favourite Lush products are wonderfully luxurious, and will make you feel totally pampered and calm. The Butterbear bath bomb from Lush is totally dreamy. It is a creamy, smooth and luscious bath bomb that leaves your skin baby soft. I also think leaving on a load of conditioner after shampooing is a great way to unwind, because who doesn't love feeling like a total queen when they have super soft hair?! If you're looking for a super soft (yet not overly soft or oily) finish, American Cream is the answer. It is a gorgeous strawberry milkshake conditioner that literally leaves your hair smelling divine for days. (If you're like me and fair haired, I'd recommend using Daddy-O shampoo before American Cream. The purple removes any brassy tones and makes your blond brighter, even if you're naturally blonde, like moi)
Nails Inc. - Kensington High Street Gel Polish - £15.00
Yankee Candle Wax Tart Melt - Wild Fig - £1.49

After you've had a good soak in the bath and cleansed away your troubles, I suggest painting your nails. My current go-to-colour is Kensington High Street from Nails Inc. It leaves your nails looking perfectly manicured due to the high gloss gel-like finish, and the colour is to die for. The deep purple, for me, acknowledges that we're still in Winter, but welcomes Spring with the pink undertones, and it looks fabulous when on. It isn't cheap, but it is worth it. Nails Inc, along with CND and OPI, are one of my favourite nail varnish brands, and the quality and durability of their polishes are worth the hefty price tag.

So, there you have it, my top pampering essentials for beating those January Blues.
Take some time for yourself, and remember, it's normal to feel a bit of a post-Christmas January slump. February is right around the corner, and I'm sure, Summer will be here before we know it.

Love as ever,

  2. There's nothing like a good pamper! I've been burning Yankee wax tarts every night recently, think I have Sugared Apple on the go at the moment. Butterbear is only released at Christmas, but all year round you can get Butterball, basically the same bath bomb just not bear shaped :-) xx

    1. There is literally nothing like pampering yourself! Aren't they just divine? I've got a non-flame tart melt post coming out soon which I think you'll love! Thanks so much, not sure why the bear is particularly christmassy, but I'll make a mental note to buy Butterball when I've used up my other one!
Thank you for your lovely comment!
      Love, Maddie x
